Chichi Foundation Donates Sanitary Pads to JHS Pupils
On Tuesday, 1st July 2025, Chichi Foundation donated sanitary pads to Junior High School (JHS) pupils at Amoakokrom and Pokuase in the Mankranso District, under the Asante Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana.
A total of 98 girls benefited from the donation, with each receiving three sanitary pads. The beneficiaries were primarily JHS 2 pupils and JHS 3 graduates who had just completed the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). The foundation focused on these year groups, based on the belief that most students in JHS 1 may not have begun menstruation yet.
Before the distribution, Mrs. Kate Fewaa Oppong educated the girls on menstrual hygiene. She explained that many of the girls come from financially challenged homes and often struggle to afford sanitary pads, making them vulnerable to exploitation.
Mrs. Kate Fewaa Oppong, added that the three pads given to each girl are expected to last them for the next three months, helping to ease the financial burden and promote good hygiene practices.
